This afternoon, the Ag. Vice-Chancellor, Assoc. Prof. Gershom Atukunda has flagged off two BSU students to Nairobi, Kenya (Strathmore University) for the 9th Mashujaa Open Debate Competition due from 29th to 30th April 2023.
Since 2018, Bishop Stuart University has been at the helm of debates internationally and nationally where our students from different faculties have been participating in reputable tournaments and have won many uncountable medals. The most recent cited is the Inter-University Quiz Championship where BSU emerged winner of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)- November 2022.
Bishop Stuart University for the very first time will participate in this prestigious competition that attracts qualifying debate societies across Africa. The debate is entirely on the presumed success of “The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)”.
Important to mention that Bishop Stuart University and Makerere University are the only Universities in Uganda that will send participants. The two students are Sigire Adonia (Guild President) and Agaba Ian (Faculty of Law).
The team will set off tomorrow, 27th April 2023, at 6am.
Go and make us proud.
