Bishop Stuart University is hosting over 45 teams from 22 Universities in Uganda in the ongoing 5th National Inter-University Creative Arts Expo and Debate Championship from today Thursday 12th to Friday 13th September 2019, organised by Uganda in Dialogue Arena (UDA) in partnership with Action Aid International Uganda and the Global Platforms under the theme: “The Governance and leadership question in Africa; the role and meaningful participation of young people,” with a specific focus on the African Charter on Elections, Democracy and Governance.
The Participants arrived at Bishop Stuart University-Main Campus, in Kakoba Mbarara yesterday Wednesday, 11th September 2019 and on the same day, there was a press conference that took place in the University Main Hall to kick-start the debate competition.
The press conference was followed by the official opening ceremony of Inter-University Debate Competitions by the University Vice-Chancellor. She encouraged participants to develop their talents referring to Mr. Munzira Chrispus a former student and Staff of Bishop Stuart University who recently participated in the Common Wealth Youth Debate championship in the United Kingdom. She also argued them to uphold human values and aspire to be great leaders that will cause positive change and transformation of their society.
Mr. Primus Bahiigi Atukwatse; Global Platform Uganda (GPU) Manager advised the participants to strengthen their organizations, build networks, and movements as young people who seek to contribute to the betterment of Uganda and a better future for Africa.
