University Senate

The University Senate is the chief academic organ of the University. The following members constitute the Senate

  1. The Vice-Chancellor (Chair Person)
  2. Director Finance/Finance Officer
  3. Deans and Directors of faculties or schools as may be established within the University
  4. Representatives of the affiliated and constituent colleges or schools, namely: the Principal; the Chairperson of the Academic Board; and a representative of the Academic staff.
  5. A number of professors and associate professors of the University that the University Council determines, which includes at least one professor or associate professor from each faculty or school elected by the academic staff of the faculty or school
  6. The University Librarian, and Dean of Students
  7. One Staff Representative, who is elected by staff.
  8. Guild president of the University to be elected by the students in accordance with the Students constitution.

CPA. Ben Niwagaba is the current University Finance Officer, he is a Certified Public Accountant of Uganda.

Prof John Francis Mugisha is the 4th Vice-Chancellor of Bishop Stuart University and a professor of Public Health with special interest and training in Health Planning and Management.

Rev. Canon Asaph Kabakyenga is the Dean of Students and Lecturer in the Faculty of Education Arts and Media Studies at BSU.

Assoc. Prof. Atukunda Gershom (PhD)- Director, Graduate Studies, Research and Innovations

Assoc. Prof. Gershom Atukunda

Assoc. Prof. Gershom Atukunda (Ph.D.) is the current Director, Graduate Studies, Research and Innovations at Bishop Stuart University. He also served as an acting Vice-Chancellor (from 23rd February 2023 to 1st July 2024) and as the Dean, Faculty of Business, Economics and Governance at the same institution.
