Assoc. Prof. Rebecca Kalibwani Mutebi is the current Faculty Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Environmental Sciences and Technology (1st April 2021 to date). She is an Economist, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Agriculture and Agribusiness, and Faculty Research and Publications Coordinator, at Bishop Stuart University (BSU), Mbarara.

She is Principal Investigator in a project of Youth Agribusiness Incubation at BSU, a project that nurtures youth agribusiness ideas, including climate smart agribusinesses, to ensure that they succeed in an open and competitive market, provide employment opportunities for young university graduates.

She is project local coordinator for the AgriSCALE project.   The Collaborative Action for Scaling Agri-entreprenuership and Industry Engagement in Food and Agribusiness Training in Sub-Saharan Africa (AgriSCALE) is an ERASMUS+ project funded by the European Union (EU), and implemented by a consortium of universities; 3 universities in Europe and 6 universities in SSA including BSU.

She has over the years been involved in project formulation, development, and evaluation on different undertakings.  Her research work includes work in agricultural production, agricultural value chain analyses, policy and institutions, and climate change. She has a strong background in both qualitative and quantitative research, good data analysis, with excellent writing skills. Download my CV here

Professional Experience

Research:
Rebecca has conducted research with experience in both quantitative and qualitative approaches for over 15 years. Research conducted includes baseline surveys, action research in development projects, market and enterprise analyses particularly markets for staple food crops and development of value chains, Impact assessments and evaluation of programmes and projects. She has ability to analyse data with excellent report writing skills; and experience in high level research on macro and microeconomic issues.
2001-2004:
Research/M&E Coordinator, Volunteer Efforts for Development Cooperation (VEDCO), an agriculture development NGO based in Kampala, Uganda. Key responsibilities included coordinating participatory research in the organisation including carrying out PRAs from time to time within the community where the organisation operates, on issues of food security and farm entrepreneurship; coordinating action research in order to introduce and disseminate appropriate technologies to the community especially for food security management and agri-business; documentation of all programme activities, including farmers' best practices, and project methodologies; mainstreaming gender in the organisation and all project activities, project development in the organisation. Also responsible for Monitoring and Evaluation (M &E) of program activities according to project design, design monitoring and reporting formats for programme activities.
