In a very significant development, Bishop Stuart University (BSU) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AVSI Foundation to collaborate on the SAY-Project-2023. This initiative aims to empower students and foster entrepreneurship by providing training and support in three key value chains: poultry, dairy, and high-value horticultural crops.
The SAY-Project at a Glance
The SAY-Project (Skilling in Agripreneurship for Increased Youth Employment) is an initiative by AVSI Foundation with funding from the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands (EKN). It is a 4-year project running from November 2020 to December 2024, focusing on developing competences of young people between 13 to 30 years to increase income opportunities, create jobs and business opportunities in the agri-business sector in an inclusive and sustainable manner.
In this project, up to 100 students will undergo comprehensive training and mentorship in poultry farming, dairy production, and high-value horticultural crops. This training is designed to empower students with practical skills, and market insights, allowing them to become successful agribusiness entrepreneurs.
This week, from 11th to 15th September 2023, AVSI Foundation is hosting a high-level national partners’ capacity building and reflection workshop at Royal Suites Hotel in Bugolobi, Kampala. The meeting brings together key stakeholders and BSU will actively participate with its business coaches representing the University. This engagement highlights BSU’s commitment to the success of the SAY-Project and its dedication to nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit among its students.
