A delegation from Bishop Stuart University (BSU), led by the Vice-Chancellor’s Commissary, Assoc. Prof. Gershom Atukunda, has participated in a one-day Mastercard Foundation Partner Convening Workshop held at Mestil Convention Centre in Kampala. The team also included Rev. Dr. Charles Mukundane, BSU Public Relations Officer and Mr. Gad Tukamushaba, Manager of the Refugee and Host Community Youth Empowerment and Transformation Initiative (RETI). The workshop was conducted under the theme: “Strengthening Education, Skilling and Skills Development Pathways for Young People.”
The convening brought together all Mastercard Foundation partners in Uganda, ecosystem actors, key stakeholders and, importantly, young people participating in Foundation-supported programmes. Bishop Stuart University is a Mastercard Foundation partner implementing the RETI Project, which focuses on empowering young people from refugee and host communities through education, skills development, entrepreneurship and other pathways that enhance their opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.
The workshop provided an important platform for partners and stakeholders to share experiences, strengthen collaboration and explore strategies to improve education and skills development pathways for young people.
Through its partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, BSU continues to contribute to efforts aimed at creating meaningful opportunities for young people, particularly those from refugee and host communities.
