Bishop Stuart University recently hosted a delegation from Give A Fig Volunteering (United Kingdom) for a high-level engagement to strengthen international collaboration and formalize a Memorandum of Understanding. The proposed partnership seeks to facilitate internship placements for international students from the United Kingdom, Australia and other countries in various academic disciplines offered at Bishop Stuart University.
During the visit, the delegation held discussions with the Vice-Chancellor’s Commissary, Assoc. Prof. Gershom Atukunda, the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Dr. Anne Tweheyo Otwine, whose efforts have been instrumental in advancing this initiative and the International Relations Officer, Mr. Akinwande Matthew.
The engagement focused on institutional familiarization, identifying areas of mutual collaboration and aligning organizational capacities to support both incoming and outgoing students and volunteers. The partnership is expected to provide opportunities for international students to undertake internships and volunteer placements while enhancing academic and cultural exchange between Bishop Stuart University and global institutions.
This initiative aligns with the university’s commitment to internationalization, global student recruitment and the promotion of cross-cultural competence. Through this strategic collaboration with Give A Fig Volunteering, the university continues to expand its international footprint, providing students and staff with global exposure while positioning itself as a preferred destination for international scholars, interns and volunteers.
Furthermore, the partnership is expected to create invaluable pathways for BSU students to access international internship and volunteer opportunities, enabling them to gain practical professional experience, broaden their global perspectives and enhance their competitiveness in an increasingly interconnected world.
Our God Reigns.
