Yesterday, 19th July 2026, several Christians gathered at St. James Cathedral, Ruharo, to celebrate the 16th anniversary of Assoc. Prof. Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa as Bishop of Ankole Diocese and Chancellor of Bishop Stuart University. The Thanksgiving service also saw several people dedicate their lives to Christ as their saviour.
Guest of Honour, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, Uganda’s Minister of Health, praised Bishop Sheldon for his dedicated service to the Church and national development, noting that the Church should combine preaching the Gospel with transforming people’s lives. He also commissioned a new Radiology Department and launched a CT scan at Ruharo Mission Hospital.
Preaching at the event, Rt. Rev. Paul Hannington Suubi, Bishop of East Busoga Diocese, commended Bishop Mwesigwa and his wife, Dr. Alice Mwesigwa, for their faithful leadership and impact through initiatives in the Diocese.
In his remarks, Assoc. Prof. Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa thanked the people of Ankole Diocese, church leaders and government officials for their support over the past 16 years, urging Christians to remain thankful to God and continue supporting the Diocese’s ongoing development projects.
