On Thursday, 2nd 2026, North Ankole Diocese organized a one-day education training session for the clergy and head teachers of the Church of Uganda Primary Schools. The workshop, held at the headquarters of North Ankole Diocese, focused on the theme “Strengthening institutional leadership and learner performance.”
During the workshop, Rt. Rev. Muhoozi Alfred, the Bishop of North Ankole Diocese, expressed appreciation for Dr. Enock Barigye’s (Dean Faculty of Education, Arts and Media Studies at Bishop Stuart University) significant contributions to the education sector and said that his expertise in this field made him the ideal voice to challenge and equip their school leaders. Addressing the attendees, the Bishop emphasized the collaborative efforts required at all levels, from district leaders to teachers, to ensure the success of educational initiatives. He underscored the workshop’s aim to provide guidance and support for educational endeavors within North Ankole Diocese.
Dr. Enock Barigye, the keynote speaker, stressed the crucial role of schools in shaping society, emphasizing that effective management of educational institutions is key to achieving positive outcomes. He also elaborated on the connection between good governance and quality teaching, highlighting the importance of accountability, transparency, integrity and instructional focus in educational leadership.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Barigye encouraged heads of schools to prioritize competence in their roles, emphasizing the significance of faithfulness and resilience in upholding the mission of educational institutions.
