Duties and responsibilities

1. Overseeing the University constructions, installations and fixings; supervising Building & Civil Engineering Estates teams, Technicians, Craftsmen and external Contractors employed by the University to ensure that, buildings, roads and their Electro-mechanical services, equipment & assets are in good working conditions.
2. Ensuring that Planned Preventative Maintenance Systems are put into operation and carried out in a timely manner for proper maintenance and safe custody of University facilities and equipment under your jurisdiction.
3. Planning, supervising and managing technical activities of the estates unit.
4. Advising the University management, on procurement of construction materials, sanitary facilities and equipment required for the activities of the estates unit.
5. Drawing budgets, estimates and bills of quantities for construction repairs and renovations as may be required by management.
6. Advising the University management in procuring technical services such as sourcing or invitation, analysis and selection of Bidders for Works; carrying out organization and planning activities as required necessary to enable the estates department to execute designated tasks.
7. Coordinating and liaising with Statutory Regulators, Consultants, Contractors and external Company representatives providing technical services related to infrastructure maintenance & development to the University.
8. Provision of advice and guidance on design concepts & proposals for structures, the sourcing & procurement of consultants to provide design services such as Architectural, structural, Mechanical, Engineering Drawings, and Bills of Quantities; for purposes of budgeting & implementation of construction projects of the University.
9. Advising management on decision making as regards completion and approval of works done by Contractors before payments can be effected.
10. Provide monthly reports on office work.
11. Coordinate appropriate technologies like ISSB, Estates, Faculty Innovations and turn them into business for the University.
12. Any other duty that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

1. Should have a Masters’ degree in either Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Systems Engineering or Computer Mathematics from a recognized institution.
2. Should be a certified IT professional with any one or more of the following: – Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) – Data Platform or Business Intelligence, IBM Certified Database Administrator (ICDA), Oracle Database Certification (ODC), CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Certified Network Associate (CAN), Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC), Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA) or Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE).
3. Should possess experience of not less than seven (7) years of operating in an IT environment, three (3) of which should be in an ICT management position at a reputable institution.
4. Should have good interpersonal relationship skills.
5. Should have good training and communication skills.
6. Should be able to effectively coordinate work of a multi-skilled technical team.

Duties and responsibilities

1. Manages and directs the effective provision of Information and Communication Technology services to the University
2. Initiates, develops and reviews the internal ICT policies of the University for consideration by Management and Council.
3. Evaluates user needs of the academic and administrative units and system functionality and ensures that ICT facilities meet these needs.
4. Manages the planning, supervision and delivery of ICT projects, both internally initiated and contracted.
5. Directs the provision of technical support to the various units of the University including training of end users, systems maintenance, crisis management and disaster recovery.
6. Researches on existing and emerging ICT technologies and trends that can be of benefit to the University and advises management accordingly.
7. Supervises installation of new or refurbishing of existing ICT infrastructure.
8. Develops and maintains procedures for installation, configuration, security and update of operating systems and applications.
9. Oversees implementation and application of acceptable ICT systems standards, practices and compliance to software licensing laws.
10. Supervises, mentors, coaches, counsels and appraises staff in the Department.
11. Monitors, evaluates and prepares periodic reports on the University’s ICT environment.
