The 17th Bishop Stuart University students’ guild acquired estimable skills and knowledge aimed at enhancing their leadership ability and service delivery to students in an induction workshop for students’ guild leaders that took place on the 5th of February 2022 at Ishik and Imani gardens in Mbarara City.
This event was organised under the theme “Growing Leaders Blog on Leading the Next Generation Order of Business”.
While delivering his presentation titled “What amounts to a better leadership”, Dr. Arinaitwe Innocent urged guild leaders to be inspirational, strategic, open to feedback, patient, accountable, dependable and have a vision while representing their constituencies. He also added that they should seek guidance from the people that inspire them.
Speaking at the same event, Mr. Manzi Kananura who happens to be a team leader at KEZA Psychology Centre and one of the invited facilitators, advised students’ leaders to continue with the zeal, stand out, lead and take up important positions after university leadership life. He also encouraged them to put God first and have good leadership skills.
The Rt. Hon. Amb. Prof. Francis Butagira who doubles as the University Legal Advisor and an invited guest advised students’ leaders to have humanity, respect the laws of the country and trust God since leadership comes from God.
Prof. Maud Kamatenesi Mugisha was also among the invited speakers and tipped students’ leaders on how to manage emergencies, and to always follow protocol and university rules and regulations.
The 17th Guild President, H.E Behangana Emmanuel pledged to work hard and hand in hand with the university administration for the betterment of the university.
Closing the workshop, the Dean of Students, Rev. Francis Muhangi appreciated the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Maud Kamatenesi Mugisha and the invited guests for supporting the induction workshop.
