Rwebiita Preparatory School, Ngoma, 10 October 2026
The Vice-Chancellor of Bishop Stuart University, Prof. John Mugisha, inspired pupils, parents, staff and guests at Rwebiita Preparatory School during a special ceremony held on 10 October 2026 at the school grounds.
The occasion brought together the school community for the Primary Seven dedication and farewell, as well as the graduation of Top Class pupils preparing to join Primary One. Parents attended in large numbers, together with church leaders, guests, teachers, non-teaching staff, former pupils and friends of the school.
The Chief Celebrant was The Ven. Rev. Samson Agaba, Archdeacon of Rwabutura Archdeaconry, assisted by Rev. Perez Byaruhanga, Vicar of St. Andrew’s Ngoma Church of Uganda. The religious leaders prayed for the children and encouraged them to remain disciplined, prayerful and focused as they prepare for the next stages of their education.
The occasion was also attended by Prof. Mesharch Katusiimeh, Director of Rwebiita Preparatory School and Associate Professor at Kabale University. He joined parents, teachers, church leaders and guests in celebrating the Top Class graduates and encouraging the Primary Seven candidates as they prepare for their final examinations. His presence reflected the school’s continued commitment to linking strong early childhood and primary education with the wider journey of academic excellence, character formation and responsible citizenship.
In his address, Prof. Mugisha shared his personal journey, narrating how his humble background helped shape his character, determination and outlook on life. He encouraged the children and parents to understand that success is often built through discipline, faith, persistence and the wise use of opportunities.
He emphasised the importance of good communication, noting that communication remains a key skill in education, leadership and personal development.
Prof. Mugisha also challenged the traditional saying that education is simply the key to success. He explained that in the modern world, what matters even more is having the “master key” – a combination of education, practical skills, critical thinking and the ability to apply knowledge.
He said he was particularly pleased with the skills displayed by the children during the occasion and encouraged schools to continue nurturing talents and competencies beyond classroom learning. The Vice Chancellor urged parents and communities to continue investing in education, describing it as one of the most important investments in the future of children and society.
He also thanked parents who have continued to support Bishop Stuart University by sending their children to study there. He encouraged the Rwebiita community to consider the university as their children progress through the education system, noting that Bishop Stuart University is growing and expanding its capacity to accommodate more learners and programmes.
Prof. Mugisha further shared a personal testimony of how he gave his life to Christ while still young and had never looked back. He said that decision had remained central to his life and had shaped his values, leadership and influence over the years.
The ceremony was also marked by prayer, thanksgiving, children’s performances and messages of encouragement to the Primary Seven candidates as they enter the final stretch before their examinations.
The Top Class children were formally celebrated as they graduated and prepared to join Primary One, while the P7 candidates were reminded to remain focused, disciplined, healthy and confident in the remaining days before their examinations.
For the Rwebiita Preparatory School community, the day was both a celebration of achievement and a reminder that education must develop not only academic ability, but also faith, character, confidence, practical skills, critical thinking and responsible citizenship.
