Yesterday, 13th August 2025, Bishop Stuart University held an induction for the 21st Guild Government in a colorful ceremony at Kashari Resort Hotel. The event brought together university leaders, staff and students to celebrate and commission the new Guild Cabinet (2025/2026).
The Guild President, H.E. Robert Beinomugisha, opened with gratitude to God for the privilege of serving at “the mighty BSU.” He called for unity, a spirit of service and a deliberate shift in mindset to drive transformation within the university.
Guest speakers, Mr. Herbert Muhangyi and Mr. Turyahebwa Francis Kaganda, challenged the leaders to embrace governance that leaves a lasting legacy. They emphasized financial discipline, resource optimization, strategic cost management and sustainable planning as key to successful leadership.
In his keynote address, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John F. Mugisha, urged the new guild leadership to constantly seek improvement and embrace learning, aligning with BSU’s vision of transforming learners into leaders who are Responsible, Ethical, Employable and Entrepreneurial (REEE). He stressed career readiness, attracting and retaining students and making strong first impressions, while demonstrating BSU’s modernization journey through concepts like digitalization, “solarization”, and “floralisation”.
Prof. Mugisha also cautioned against the five temptations of leadership—misuse of power, greed for property, pride, popularity and self-importance—and encouraged accountability to God. Drawing from biblical references, he reminded the leaders that success comes through preparation, discipline, character and strategic action.
Our God Reigns.
