AgrCBE (Agricultural Competence Based Education)

AgrCBE (Agricultural Competence Based Education) is a project co-funded by the European Union (EU). It is a consortium of 12 partner institutions. These are; Commission for University Education in Kenya (CUE), National Council for Higher Education Uganda (NCHE), RUFORUM, Inter University Council for East Africa, Hame University of Applied Sciences (Finland), NHL-Stenden (Netherlands), Gulu University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Egerton University and Bishop Stuart University.

​Project Background
The Consortium works to adopt Competence Based Education in HEIs. The AgrCBE consortium focuses on preparing locally contextualized CBE modules with piloted and tested tools and protocols for curricula planning, implementation and retooling of Staff from NHECs and HEIs. The overall objective is to strengthen the partner country education governance authority’s capacity to support competence-based work life relevant and inclusive higher education for societal and environmental development.

Work Package 1: Management and Coordination led by Gulu University. Bishop Stuart University is represented by Dr. Donath Asiimire, PhD.

Work package 2: Competence based framework Development and Testing led by Bishop Stuart University and NHL-Stenden University. BSU is represented by Dr. Johnson Atwiine, PhD and Dr. Enock Barigye, PhD.

Work package 3: Collaborative learning ecosystem for CBE creation and testing led by Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. BSU is represented by Prof. John F. Mugisha, Assoc. Prof. Rebecca Kalibwani and Mr. Cosmas Kiguli.

Work package 4: Higher Education Commissions and HEI capacity building on competence-based curricula planning and implementation, it is led by Egerton University. BSU is represented by Rev. Dr. Judith Arinaitwe, PhD and Dr. Noel Kiiza Kansiime, PhD

Work package 5: Impact and Dissemination, led by Hame University of Applied Sciences-Finland. BSU is represented by Rt. Rev. Assoc. Prof. Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa and Dr. Johnson Atwiine.
