A delegation from Bishop Stuart University (BSU), led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Francis Mugisha, on 27th June 2026, joined Christians of St. John’s Nyabikungu Church of Uganda in Rwampara East for a thanksgiving service celebrating the appointment of Mr. Nabaasa Medard Abaasa, the University Secretary at BSU, as the Head of Laity of the parish.
Prof. John Francis Mugisha, the guest preacher, delivered a sermon on Jeremiah 1:5, reminding the congregation that God has a divine purpose for every individual, even before they are born. He noted that Mr. Medard’s appointment was part of God’s ordained plan and encouraged Christians to remain faithful, humble and grateful for God’s blessings. He emphasized that thanksgiving should be a lifestyle for every believer.
In his remarks, Mr. Nabaasa Medard Abaasa thanked God for His faithfulness and for entrusting him with the responsibility of serving as Head of Laity. He pledged to serve the Church with commitment, integrity and dedication. He also expressed sincere appreciation to BSU community, family, friends and well-wishers for their prayers, encouragement and unwavering support. Medard further announced that all proceeds from the Thanksgiving ceremony would contribute towards the purchase of a vehicle for St. John’s Nyabikungu Parish.
The event brought together Church leaders, family members, friends and members of BSU community, portraying the strong partnership between the University and the Church. Bishop Stuart University remains dedicated to community engagement, as reflected in its strategic plan to actively participate in community initiatives.
