PhD Defence Abstract – Michael Balituumye

The thesis studies time out of the selected novels of Makumbi, Isegawa and Ocwinyo. The research discusses time on the basis of the opposition between story time and the time of the narrative as is theorized in narratology. This way, the research discusses the mimetic temporal aspects of narrative ordering, duration, and frequency in the selected novels; the research also considers antimimetic temporal aspects in the same texts. This is a qualitative research that adopts a case study design.
