Bishop Stuart University (BSU) has been ranked 4th among Private Universities and 11th overall in Uganda, according to the Webometrics Global Position Ranking – July 2025 Edition.
This notable ranking underscores the University’s growing national and international presence in research output and academic performance. The Webometrics ranking system evaluates institutions based on objective and transparent performance indicators drawn from independent data sources. This year’s ranking is based on three critical indicators:
- Global Visibility (50%): Measured by the number of external referring domains (Source: Ahrefs.com).
- Openness/Transparency (10%): Based on citations from top 310 cited researchers, excluding the top 20 outliers (Source: Google Scholar Profiles).
- Research and Academic Performance (40%): Determined by the number of research papers published in the top 10% most cited globally between 2019 and 2023 (Source: Scopus / Scimago).
BSU’s performance in the Webometrics rankings has shown remarkable growth over the past decade. In 2015, the University held a world rank of 19,593 and by July 2025, it’s ascended to 10,289, an improvement of over 9,300 positions. This positive trend reflects the efforts to strengthen the University’s academic visibility, research impact and global competitiveness.
