On 26th August 2026, Bishop Stuart University (BSU) team, led by the Public Relations Officer Rev. Dr. Charles Mukundane joined Our Lady of the Rosary Mushanga Catholic Parish in the Archdiocese of Mbarara to celebrate its 80th anniversary and the priestly ordination of two priests at the main parish grounds in Mushanga, Sheema District.
The Archbishop of Mbarara, His Grace Lambert Beinomugisha, who led the Holy Mass and ordained the two priests from Mushanga Parish, thanked the people of Mushanga for remaining faithful to God throughout the parish’s 80 years of existence. He called upon them to continue thanking God for His faithfulness. In his message to the newly ordained priests, Archbishop Beinomugisha urged them to spread the Word of God to people in all parts of the world. “You need to understand that you were sent from people and you have returned to people,” the Archbishop said.
The Guest of Honour, Hon. Jacob Marksons Oboth-Oboth, the Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, who represented the Vice-President, Maj. (Rtd.) Jessica Alupo, noted that this was his first visit to Western Uganda since becoming Speaker of Parliament. In a message from the Vice-President, the Speaker congratulated the newly ordained priests, saying that their ordination is a great privilege. He encouraged them to preach the Word of God, especially during difficult moments and to focus on fostering discipline and responsibility among young people. He reminded them that true leadership begins with true service.
The Parish Priest of Mushanga Catholic Parish, Rev. Fr. Genensio Niwagira, commended all stakeholders, including BSU, for their financial and other support in making the celebration a success. He also congratulated the newly ordained priests and wished them a fruitful journey in serving God and His people.
