Yesterday, 28th September, Bishop Stuart University (BSU) held a career guidance at Kyamate Secondary School in Ntungamo District to encourage students to stay focused on their studies and prepare for their future careers and vocations after completing secondary education.
BSU Public Relations Officer in charge of Community Engagement, Rev. Dr. Charles Mukundane, encouraged students to develop both personal and technical skills so that they can apply their knowledge beyond the classroom. “Don’t be lazy, have something to do,” Rev. Dr. Mukundane told the students, urging them to work hard and obtain good academic results that can enable them to pursue university education.
He introduced to students various Academic programmes offered at BSU and explained the requirements for joining the University after A-Level. He encouraged them to consider BSU for transformative learning that equips students with knowledge and skills for personal and professional success. He also highlighted BSU’s scholarship opportunities available to students seeking to pursue higher education at the University.
The Assistant Academic Registrar at BSU, Mr. Andrew Ayebare, encouraged the students to remain hopeful, prayerful and committed to their studies. He urged them to avoid comparing themselves with others, noting that everyone has a unique journey in life. Mr. Ayebare encouraged the students to acquire practical skills, develop a clear vision for their future and remain determined to achieve their goals. He also emphasised the importance of teamwork, reminding them that success in education and life requires cooperation, support and learning from one another.
The career guidance session is part of BSU’s continued community engagement and outreach initiatives aimed at equipping secondary school students with information and guidance to make informed decisions about their education, careers and future.
