H.E. Joseph Rutabana, the Rwandan High Commissioner to Uganda, paid a courtesy visit to Bishop Stuart University (BSU) on 24 July 2026 to strengthen collaboration between Rwanda and Uganda, with particular emphasis on higher education.
During the visit, the High Commissioner commended the strong and growing partnerships between Bishop Stuart University and higher education institutions in both Uganda and Rwanda. He applauded the University’s commitment to building meaningful academic relationships that promote excellence in teaching, research and innovation exchange between the two countries.
H.E. Rutabana also expressed his appreciation for the warm and cordial relationship that exists between Bishop Stuart University and Rwanda. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance cooperation in education and other areas of mutual interest, noting that such partnerships are vital in advancing regional integration and sustainable development.
Ambassador Rutabana was received by the Chancellor, The Rt. Rev. Assoc. Prof. Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa, alongside the Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Francis Mugisha, and members of the University’s top management. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss potential areas of collaboration.
The visit marked another important milestone in deepening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Bishop Stuart University and Rwanda. Both parties expressed optimism about developing stronger partnerships that will benefit students, researchers, academic staff, and the wider community while contributing to the continued growth of higher education in the region.
