Research
(i) Summary of Research Activities as a Crop Physiologist at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA)- Ibadan, Nigeria.
- His overall responsibilities were to identify and provide Crop Physiological/Agronomic information on factors limiting yield in cassava, yam and plantain/cooking bananas. During the period 1985-1987, his major research focus & activities were centered on yam aimed at increased understanding of yam growth patterns and the development of plants grown from minisetts. Other interests included yam tuber storage and methods of extending tuber dormancy.
- His second area of research was the evaluation of improved cassava genotypes (in collaboration with breeders) for inter-cropping and under drought stress.
(ii) Current Activities
He is employed as a Professor in the Department of Agriculture, Agribusiness, and Environment at Bishop Stuart University, Mbarara, Uganda. He lectures to both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students in Agronomy/Crop Physiology, Soil Management and Water Conservation, Eco-Physiology, Applied Statistics and Field Experimentation. He also supervises Postgraduate students’ projects and carries out research on various aspects of agronomy and crop physiology, he is coordinating an MSc study programme on Agronomy currently running at the University.
