The Uganda Vice-Chancellors Forum has re-elected Prof. John F. Mugisha, Vice-Chancellor of Bishop Stuart University (BSU), to represent Private Universities Vice-Chancellors on the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) for another five-year term.
The decision was reached during a special meeting of the Uganda Vice-Chancellors Forum held on 22nd July 2026. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Paul Wako, Vice-Chancellor of Busitema University and Chairman of the Uganda Vice-Chancellors Forum.
Prof. Mugisha had just completed his first five-year term as a member of the NCHE, during which he served as the Chairperson of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Committee. His leadership in promoting quality assurance and strengthening accreditation standards across Uganda’s higher education sector has been widely recognized.
His re-election reflects the confidence that members of the Uganda Vice-Chancellors Forum have in his leadership, experience and continued commitment to advancing excellence in higher education. During his new five-year term, Prof. Mugisha is expected to continue contributing to the development of policies and initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality and standards of university education in Uganda.
