The Ministry of Water and Environment is currently conducting a two-day bamboo propagation training at Bishop Stuart University (BSU), aimed at equipping students and staff with practical skills in establishing and managing nursery beds.
The training began with a theoretical session on the fundamentals of bamboo propagation, while the second day is dedicated to hands-on practical demonstrations. The sessions are led by Mr. Adam and Ms. Gloria, who emphasised the importance of bamboo as one of the fastest-growing plant species with significant benefits in soil restoration, environmental conservation and climate resilience.
The facilitators noted that the training seeks to transfer knowledge and skills to the university community, enabling BSU to establish and maintain bamboo nursery beds within its premises sustainably. This initiative forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing support for BSU in enhancing campus beautification and promoting environmental stewardship through tree-planting programmes.
