Yesterday, 16th October 2025, Bishop Stuart University (BSU) launched its 10-Year Strategic Plan in a colorful ceremony held at Hotel Africana, Kampala. The event marked a significant milestone in the university’s journey toward achieving academic excellence, innovation and global competitiveness.
The launch followed a University Council meeting, during which Dr. Christine Charity Mwebesa (PhD), the Special Presidential Assistant for Economic Affairs, Government of Uganda, was officially sworn in as a new member of the University Council.
Dr. Mwebesa brings a wealth of experience and expertise in academia and national economic development to the Council. Her appointment comes as Dr. Kedrace Turyagyenda transitions to serve as a Permanent Secretary, following her dedicated service to BSU.
The University Council members and the Vice-Chancellor expressed optimism that Dr. Mwebesa’s contribution will further strengthen the university’s governance and strategic direction, particularly in aligning higher education with national development priorities.
The 10-year Strategic Plan outlines key focus areas, including academic transformation, research and innovation, digitalization and community engagement, positioning the University as a leader in delivering inclusive and future-focused education.
At the same event, our Chancellor and Bishop of Ankole Diocese, Rt. Rev. Assoc. Prof. Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa launched his book titled “Best of the Best”. The guest of honor was Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo Rose Apel, the Vice-President of the Republic of Uganda.
