Bishop Stuart University (BSU) has emerged as the 1st Runner-Up (2nd Overall) in the 12th Edition of the Center for Health, Human Rights and Development (CEHURD) Annual National Inter-University Constitutional Law Moot Competition, held at Hotel Africana, Kampala, from 28th–29th August 2025. Represented by Ainebyoona Marvin and Kamukama Susan (3rd year Bachelor of Laws students), BSU Faculty of Law team impressed magistrates and a panel of five Justices sitting as the Supreme Court with their mastery of constitutional principles, persuasive arguments and remarkable courtroom presence.
After two days of rigorous advocacy, BSU secured the 1st runner-up position with 74%, following Cavendish University, which emerged overall winner with 80.2%. Guided by the theme, “Navigating divergent perspectives in promoting reproductive and gender justice in Uganda”, the competition challenged participants to critically engage with complex constitutional issues and BSU’s representatives rose to the occasion with exceptional skill and professionalism.
The moot brought together Uganda’s top law universities, including Makerere University, Islamic University in Uganda, Gulu University, Uganda Pentecostal University, Cavendish University, Kampala International University, Nkumba University, International University of East Africa, King Ceasor University, Metropolitan International University and Bishop Stuart University. This outstanding performance further cements BSU’s Faculty of Law as a growing hub for ethical, competent and practice-ready lawyers.
We celebrate Marvin and Susan for flying BSU flag high and commend our staff, mentors, administration and the CEHURD team for making this national platform a success.
