DESCRIPTION:We invite you to join us for the 7th Annual BSU Week as we celebrate 20 years of existence and generational transformation of the community through holistic education that will take place from 31st July to 7th August 2022 at Main Campus\, Kakoba. \nDuring this week\, the University holds a series of activities that include \n\nMission\nConfirmation service\nExhibitions\nPublic Lectures\,\nResearch Dissemination\nPro Bono (Free Legal services)\nAlumni Dinner\nSports\nRecognition of notable faces that have rendered distinguished service to the University and other community engagement activities.\n\nThe Mission will be guided by the theme extracted from Ezra 10:11 (NIV): “Separate yourselves from the people around you and from your foreign wives…” and will attract renowned missioners like Emeritus Bishop Rwobusisi Geoffrey\, Rev. Tumuhimbise Jasper\, Mrs. Peninah Byarugaba among others. \nExhibitions are scheduled from 3rd to 4th August 2022 to showcase university activities\, innovations and students’ products and skills guided by the theme “Enhancement of teaching\, learning and assessment with ODeL in Higher Education”. The Chief Exhibitor will be Hon. Min. Dr. Monica Musenero Masanza\, the Minister of Science\, Technology and Innovation. A Public Lecture will precede the exhibitions in honour of the Late Prof. Enoka Rukare (1st Vice-Chancellor) whose main speaker will be Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu. \nYou are invited to come and celebrate with us. SUMMARY:Entrepreneurship skills development training
DESCRIPTION:BSU-AVSI partnership in the Skilling in Agripreneurship for Increased Youth Employment (SAY) project \nAVSI Foundation is implementing the Skilling in Agripreneurship for Increased Youth Employment (SAY) Project with funding from the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands (EKN).  SAY is a 4 year project (November 2020 to December 2024) focusing on developing competences of young people between 13 to 30 years to increase income opportunities\, create jobs and business opportunities in the agri-business sector in an inclusive and sustainable manner. \nThe SAY project is intended to contribute concretely to an increased agri-skills level of youth and their gainful employment in the agribusiness sector in Uganda as part of efforts to socio-economically spur Uganda to middle-income status. \nAVSI Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bishop Stuart University (BSU) to implement the SAY project in the university.  The overall objective of this partnership is to provide agribusiness incubation support to innovative agri-enterprises and services\, developed by students at BSU. \nBSU hereby invites applications from interested students\, aged 18-30 years\, to undertake a Business/Entrepreneurship Skills Development training between 24th and 26th November 2021\, 9.00 am – 4.00 pm everyday.  The training will be offered by ExcelHort Agribusiness Incubator (ECHAI) at BSU. The purpose of the training is to impart business skills to upcoming student entrepreneurs in the university. \nApplicants who have an innovative business idea and would like to be supported are encouraged to explain their idea in the application. They will be supported to develop and grow the idea for the time that they will be at the university with the aim that upon graduation\, they have a business that can provide employment for themselves as well as for other youth that they will employ. \nBusiness ideas are specifically invited in the following agribusiness areas: Dairy\, Poultry\, Essential oils extraction and Herbal Medicines\, ICT\, and any other innovative idea of your choice. \nPlease note  \n\nBusiness ideas are welcome from all university students (all faculties and departments)\, aged between 18-30 years.\nStudents are free to attend the training even without proposing a business idea.\nAt the end of the training\, at least 20 agribusiness ideas will be competitively selected for further support.\nYou will be transported from the university and back every day of the training.\n\nFor any inquiries\, please contact: +256 779 083338/ +256 701 633491/ +256 753 557535/ +256 772 666145

DESCRIPTION:As part of its activities to mark 20 years of existence and generational transformation of the community through holistic education\, Bishop Stuart University is delighted to announce the Prof. Enoka Rukare Public Lecture. \nThe Lecture will be held on Thursday 4th August 2022 at 9:00 am to remember him for spearheading the genesis of Bishop Stuart University and his contribution to Higher Education in Uganda and the world. \nBecause of his great contribution\, the University Council and Board of Trustees resolved to name the 3rd floor of the University Library “Prof. Enoka Rukare Research Carrels”. \nTheme: Celebrating 20 years of Generational Transformation of the Community through Holistic Education \nDate and Time: Thursday 4th August 2022 at 9:00 am (EAT). \nKeynote Speaker: Hon. Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu\, University Council Member and Senior Presidential Advisor. \nDiscussant: Prof. Elly N. Sabiiti (Ph.D.)\, University Chairperson Committee of Appointments and Staff Welfare. \nModerator: Prof. Kenneth Kagame (Ph.D.)\, Chairperson University Council. \nProf. Enoka Rukare Brief History  \nProf. Enoka Rukare was born in Rwenshanku village in Kashari\, Mbarara District and studied at Mbarara Junior School\, Busoga College Mwiri\, Mbarara High School and Makerere University. \nHe later went to the universities of Wales\, Colombia and London. He became saved in the 1940s. Rukare joined Makerere University in 1961 as a member of staff for the development of curriculum in the School of Education and served the university devotedly. \nFrom 1962 to 1964\, Rukare was posted as a resident tutor in the department of extra-neural studies at Makerere University College in Northern Uganda. He was re-appointed to the same position in July 1972. A year later he was appointed the Head of the Department of Education. He quickly rose through the ranks and was made professor in 1975. \nRukare was the Dean of the School of Education from 1976 to 1979. He also acted as the University Dean of students.  He retired from Makerere University in 1992 but returned to serve on the University Council. \nAccording to the First Chancellor and Chairman of the Diocesan Synod Bishop Elisha Kyamugambi\, in the year 2002\, the Synod of Ankole Diocese resolved to start a University in Kakoba\, Mbarara called Bishop Stuart University. He was charged with the task to look for the Professor to work as the Vice-Chancellor and four professors were approached but none of them turned up. Since a professor was a key requirement for the start of the University\, Prof. Rukare agreed to become a Vice-Chancellor for the newly established BSU. DESCRIPTION:BSU-AVSI partnership in the Skilling in Agripreneurship for Increased Youth Employment (SAY) project \nAVSI Foundation is implementing the Skilling in Agripreneurship for Increased Youth Employment (SAY) Project with funding from the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands (EKN).  SAY is a 4 year project (November 2020 to December 2024) focusing on developing competences of young people between 13 to 30 years to increase income opportunities\, create jobs and business opportunities in the agri-business sector in an inclusive and sustainable manner. \nThe SAY project is intended to contribute concretely to an increased agri-skills level of youth and their gainful employment in the agribusiness sector in Uganda as part of efforts to socio-economically spur Uganda to middle-income status. \nAVSI Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bishop Stuart University (BSU) to implement the SAY project in the university.  The overall objective of this partnership is to provide agribusiness incubation support to innovative agri-enterprises and services\, developed by students at BSU. \nBSU hereby invites applications from interested students\, aged 18-30 years\, to undertake a Business/Entrepreneurship Skills Development training between 24th and 26th November 2021\, 9.00 am – 4.00 pm everyday.  The training will be offered by ExcelHort Agribusiness Incubator (ECHAI) at BSU. The purpose of the training is to impart business skills to upcoming student entrepreneurs in the university. \nApplicants who have an innovative business idea and would like to be supported are encouraged to explain their idea in the application.
