GENERAL PUBLIC NOTICE ON STATUTORY DECLARATION
Bishop Stuart University would wish to inform the general public and clarify on the notice of statutory declarations of the Companies Act of 2012 Cap 22 as published in the New Vision of Tuesday, 20 February 2024 page 32; “Notice of special resolution for voluntarily winding up” of Bishop Stuart University Ltd under section 269 (1) of the Act and in the matter of statutory declaration of solvency embodying a statement of assets and liabilities of Bishop Stuart University Mbarara (U) Ltd pursuant to section 271 of Companies Act 2012.
Bishop Stuart University (BSU) was incorporated as a Company Ltd by Guarantee and has since been using the assets of the Church of Uganda under the foundation body of Ankole Diocese. The University was granted a Charter status on October 25 2014 and is now governed by the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act 2001.
It is against this background that the Directors of BSU voluntarily declared to wind up as a company limited by Guarantee and operate as a University governed by the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act 2001.
This is therefore to dispel perceived controversy and inform the general public about the University status and clear the air about any misinformation and misconception of the declaration made. BSU remains very committed to deliver her mandate as per the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) requirements.
Management apologizes for any confusion this could have utterly caused.
Our God Reigns!
