This afternoon, 20th February 2024, the Ag. Vice-Chancellor, Assoc. Prof. Gershom Atukunda with the Top Management Team, flagged off two students from the Faculty of Agriculture, Environmental Sciences and Technology (FAEST) for an exchange program in the Czech Republic at Mendelu University.
In October 2023, Bishop Stuart University (BSU) signed an MoU with Mendelu University (MU) to jointly implement Staff/Students exchange program under the International Credit Mobility (ICM) arrangement supported by the European Commission. Hence, this semester, two of the best performing students from FAEST were selected to take up the opportunity to be the Pioneer Mobility Students to study at MU.
The selected students are Ms. Ritah Rukundo – Bachelor of Agriculture and Community Development – 3rd year, Department of Agriculture, Agribusiness, and Environment and Mr. Levicato Tushabemukama – Bachelor of Computer Science – 3rd year, Department of Computing Library and Information Technology.
This first cohort will be at MU for their 2nd semester of 3rd year and will be able to cover selected course units that are related to their study programmes at Bishop Stuart University. The credits they will gain from these course units will be transferred to their transcripts to be awarded respective degrees at BSU. The two are anticipated to accomplish their semester at MU in June 2024 and return to Uganda to graduate at the 20th graduation of BSU in October this year.
More to this, two staff (from the departments where these students were selected) have also been nominated to visit Mendelu University during the University’s International Week in April 2024. They include; Mr. Nkuuhe Douglas, Department of Agriculture, Agribusiness, and Environment (AAE) and Mr. Mulindwa Ian, Department of Computing Library and Information Technology (CLIT). These will travel in April this year to check students’ progress.
Subsequently, BSU will receive students and staff from MU during the course of the year.
