Main Purpose of the Post
Your main purpose is to ensure that BSU has accurate accounting throughout the year. He/She must ensure that other accounting teams follow proper procedures and that all accounts are updated and accurate.
i. Master’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or any other relevant field preferably an Auditing option.
ii. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance or any other relevant degree (Accounting/ Auditing Option) from a recognized Institution.
iii. Must be a Certified Public Accountant with full CPA/ACCA/CIA and a member of a recognized accounting body.
iv. Computer knowledge and skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the Internet are mandatory.
v. Working experience of at least Six (6) years in financial management from a reputable organization.
vi. Fluency in English and ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
vii. Able and willing to work under pressure to improve the overall performance of the projects.
Key duties and responsibilities:
i. Performing the full audit cycle including risk management and control management over operations’ effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations

iii. Determine internal audit scope and develop annual plans
iv. Obtain, analyse and evaluate accounting documentation, previous reports, data, etc
v. Prepare and present reports that reflect the audit’s results and document the process
vi. Act as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity, legality and goal achievement
vii. Identify loopholes and recommend risk aversion measures and cost savings
viii. Maintain open communication with management and the audit committee
ix. Document process and prepare audit findings memorandum
x. Conduct follow up audits to monitor management’s interventions
xi. Engage in continuous knowledge development regarding Bishop Stuart University’s rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards.
xii. Perform any other duties that may be assigned to you by your immediate supervisor.

i. Paying attention to detail and a result-oriented person. Internal auditors need to have a keen eye for detail and be able to spot discrepancies and anomalies in financial records and other documents
ii. Excellent oral communication skills in order to work effectively with colleagues from all parts of the organization.
iii. Developing the ability to handle the stresses that come along the job.
iv. Must have high levels of integrity skills.
v. Time management skills to work on several different documents in a stipulated timeframe.
vi. Teamwork skills and patience.
