RE: AMENDMENT OF SEMESTER ONE AY 2020/2021 ONGOING ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES DUE TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE ON COVID 19 PREVENTIVE MEASURES

Christian greetings,

His Excellency the President in his Presidential address released COVID 19 measures on 6/6/2021.The first measure directed that all Educational Training Institutions close effective 7/6/2021.

The Top Management meeting held on 7/6/2021 guided on how the uncompleted Academic Activities for Semester one AY 2020/2021, reopening of Semester two AY 2020/2021, and Semester one AY 2021/2022(May Intake) are to be managed.

1.0 ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES THAT WERE STILL RUNNING FOR SEMESTER ONE AY 2020/2021

Examinations for Postgraduate Students 14/6/2021 19/6/2021 Senate Graduate Committee to sit on 11/6/2021 and give a direction on whether the Exams continue or be rescheduled.
1st School Practice for 3rd Year BAED, BSCED 31/5/2021 9/7/2021 Suspended as per the directive of closing all schools. Students to embark on VLE starting on 19/6/2021 during the 42 days.
Internship for programs below;

2nd Year (DIT,DCS,DLIS),3rd Year(BCS,BSIT),2nd Year BLIS

To continue and complete as long as the organizations have not blocked them. Students doing their internship in Mbarara will be supervised while others await communication from the Faculty on how their supervision will be handled.

Internal Examinations for all Nursing Students 25/5/2021 16/6/2021 Suspended as per the directive. A new roadmap for the conduct of Exams to be circulated. Faculty to guide on how best to conduct the remaining exams and resumption on VLE while awaiting communication from UNMEB

2.0 SEMESTER ONE YEAR ONE AY 2021/2022 (May Intake)

Freshers orientation and face to face interaction is suspended for 42 days awaiting review of the lockdown. However, the University continues to admit students for the May Intake. The University will train the students to access online after the Lockdown is uplifted.

Those who can access the University are encouraged to come and enroll for online teaching and learning. You are advised to report back home. Contact the Systems Admin. on Tel.0783148733, 0774373724.

3.0 BEGINNING OF SEMESTER TWO AY 2020/2021

All students in years 1, 2, 3 and 4 are informed to report online on 19/6/2021. Programs whose field based academic activities were suspended should also report for online learning on 19/6/2021.

Any student who fails to access online learning is encouraged to voluntarily apply for withdraw by writing to the Academic Registrar through the Dean of Faculty and Head of Department specifying the circumstances leading to the withdraw.

4.0 ADMINISTRATIVE LAW SHORT COURSE

Students who had enrolled for the Administrative Law short course are informed that it is suspended pending the 42 days of closure of all the Educational Training Institutions.

However, the University continues to admit students for the short course.

How to log on to the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)

  1. Go to vle.bsu.ac.ug
  2. Enter your username(your Reg.No in capital letters without slashes i.e.19BSUBAED000 and password (your phone number)
  3. Click on login button to login
  4. Click on site home and look for the search input field to search your course units and enroll in each course unit you are offering.
