The Journal of Development Issues, ISSN 2077-4354 is published twice annually (June and December) by the Faculty of Business and Development Studies. The Journal’s focus is to understand development as a process of socio-economic and political progress. The forthcoming edition will focus on the following areas:
Theme: Rural Transformation and Development
1. Rural Development Theories and their application in Africa.
2. Rationale for rural transformation in overall national development in Africa.
3. Rural Socio- formations: their persistence and change.
4. Financing Rural Development.
5. Food Security and rural development.
6. Energy sources and their utilisation for transformation
7. Gender and rural transformation in developing economies
8. ICT, Value addition and rural transformation opportunities
9. Cooperatives and rural transformation
10. Education and rural transformation
11. Natural resources and environmental governance for rural development
12. Migration, Population displacement and rural development
The Journal of Development Issues welcomes abstracts from scholars and researchers on any of the thematic areas above, including book reviews, and research reports.

All abstracts should be received by the Editor not later than Friday, 12 February, 2010. Authors will be notified of the outcome of the evaluation of their abstracts by the Editorial team not later than Friday, 28 February, 2010.
Those invited to submit full papers will be required to send in their first drafts by Monday, 28 March, 2008. The Editorial Committee will send the papers to the subject matter expert reviewers immediately. Authors will be given comments by 30 April 2010.
Final revised papers for inclusion in the June edition must be received by Friday, 15 May, 2010.
Articles submitted should:
- Be typed double space and with a wide margin on the left.
- Be justified (alignment)
- Not be more than 8000 words; reviews, 1500 words.
- Not be under consideration for any other publication at the same time.
Professional details about the author should be included at the bottom of the first page.
