Agriculture remains a key sector of Uganda’s economy and to this end, the government has undertaken economic transformation where a number of policies such as privatization, liberalization and diversification, have been introduced. These policies in term have reputed into remarkable changes in the agricultural sector and in the agribusiness system of the country comprising of three sectors: Farm input, Farm Production and Farm output. (processing and marketing). The agricultural export base has also been widened to include “non traditional agricultural exports” such as maize, beans, horticultural products, live animals and animal products.

The economic transformation, therefore has introduced many challenges to the private individuals engaged in the agribusiness sector in all the aspects of production, process, and marketing. These challenges have necessitated to a shift in emphasis on teaching business aspects of agriculture. The need to use the earned income from agriculture for rural development is an important aspect in Uganda.
